Lorentz (Cyprus) SESAME User Committee • Composition of the committee (from Terms of Reference) “The SUC shall consist of one member from each of the SESAME Members and two students, each from a different SESAME Member, appointed on a rotational basis in decreasing alphabetical order of the name of the SESAME Members starting by the letter “A” and back to the letter “A” after having reached the end of the alphabet. The Scientific Director of SESAME shall be ex officio member of the SUC.” SESAME User Committee • “Except in the case of the two students and the Scientific Director of SESAME, the SUC members shall hold office for two years and shall be eligible for re-election for a further term of two years, but shall not serve continuously for more than four years . The two students shall hold office for one year and shall not be re-elected. • “The members of the SUC, excluding the two students and the Scientific Director of SESAME, shall each have one vote. The two students and the Scientific Director of SESAME shall have no vote.” Election of the members of the Committee • Elections will be web based and should be held during the week prior to an annual Users’ Meeting of SESAME and the first two days of the meeting. • The SUC members should make an announcement to their national users at least three months before the election week and call for nominations. • Nominations can be made by anybody among the users registered on the database of SESAME users. • CV of the nominees will be distributed to all the users one week prior to the election week. • One member shall be elected from each of the SESAME Members, and one member shall be elected from among the students standing for election. • The students standing for election shall be elected by all the users. • Newly-elected SUC members shall take office at the first SUC meeting following their election. 11th SESAME Users' Meeting 20 - 22 November 2013 - Amman, Jordan • Dedicated workshops on IR, XRF/XAFS, PX • The scientific program will cover topics in: a) Atomic, molecular, and chemical physics. b) Structural biology, drug design, and medical applications. c) Materials science, electronic structure and nanotechnology. d) Archaeology and cultural heritage. e) SESAME machine and Phase I beamlines development.
