Scientific support to the Danube Strategy
Launched by the JRC in 2011
In close collaboration with key scientific partners of the Danube
countries:
• Science Academies (LoI with 11 partner Academies)
• Universities (LoI with Danube Rectors' Conference representing almost 70
universities of the region)

Objectives
1. Addressing the scientific needs related to the implementation
of the EUSDR
• JRC, as the EC's in-house science service, has strong expertise on the
Danube Region (EFAS, Danube Soil Information System, water quality
monitoring, etc.)
• Promoting a cross-cutting approach
• Addressing the interdependencies between different EUSDR Priority
Areas and helping to avoid duplication of efforts

• Implementation in close cooperation which key scientific actors of
the Danube Region
