OVERVIEW
• Head Start is a federally funded
comprehensive program for
economically disadvantaged preschool
children and their families. Services
include;
– Education, Nutrition, Health, Dental, Mental
Health & Disabilities
– Parent involvement to include shared
governance

SHARED GOVERNANCE
• 1304.50(a)(1) -
Grantee and delegate agencies
must establish and maintain a formal structure of
shared governance through which parents can
participate in policy making or in other decisions
about the program. This structure must consist of
the following groups;
– Board of County Commissioners
– Policy Council
– Head Start Team

50% of Head Start Teachers Nationwide must
have a 4 year Early Childhood Education
degree
– 89% of our teachers have met mandate
– 9 teachers are currently enrolled in
programs
– 10 Master level degree teachers
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
• Curriculum Specialist authored Curriculum
Guide that was shared with UCF Early
Learning program and Paramore Kid Zone
• Integrated the use of ipads in 34 classrooms
• Served 100% of parents with children
needing nutritional services. Decreased the
number of children at risk for being
overweight
