Course Recovery vs. Course Remediation
Course Recovery:
Designed for students who have previously failed a specific subject, but promoted to the next grade level
Example: Tom is a current 7 th grade student who failed 6 th grade Math.
This school year he will be recovering 6 th grade Math using
Odyssey.
Course Remediation:
Designed for the student who is not passing in a specific 9-week period within a content area.
Example: Jessica is struggling and fails the 2 nd nine-week math class.
Jessica’s teacher has assigned her the course for 7 th grade 2 nd nineweek math.
Recovery occurs for an entire course (all quarters).
Remediation can occur for one or more nine week course(s).
