Sarva Sikhya Abhiyan
Sarva Sikhya Abhiyan (SSA) started in the year 2001
which is a comprehensive and integrated flagship
programme of the Govt. of India that aims to attain
universalization of Elementary Education (UEE) in the
country.

National Programme for Education of
Girls’ at Elementary Level


National Programme for Education of Girls’ at
Elementary Level (NPEGEL) is a Scheme for providing
additional components for education of Girls’ NPEGEL.
NPEGEL is applicable for the Educationally Backward
Blocks (EBB). EBB means where the level of rural female
literacy is less than the national average and gender
gap is above national average.
In Keonjhar District the female literacy is 30.01%
which is much below than national literacy rate &
SC/ST people constitute 56.01% of total population.
11 Blocks of Keonjhar District are coming under EBB
Blocks.

KGBV is a Scheme approved by Govt. of India with
a view to bridge the gender gap in literacy in the
EBB.
KGBV is the residential schools set up in the
EBB blocks to ensure access to quality
education and to mainstream the dropout and
overage girls of disadvantaged groups of
society.

identified for adoption of Multilingual Education.
