Goals
Preparing Students to Compete in a Global Society
2010-2011
We follow the district template and focus on the three
core areas
of reading, writing and mathematics.
Our documents are complete with detailed descriptions for
supporting academic achievement.
Burr teaching teams utilize a 90/80/90 model which focuses on
90% proficiency in reading, 80% proficiency in writing and 90%
proficiency in mathematics for the 2011 - 2012 school year.
Strategies
Preparing Students to Compete in a Global Society
2010-2011
Strategies are research based instructional practices
that improve student achievement.
Strategies are specific and measurable.
Strategies are action oriented. They are what the
vertical, grade level teams and teachers will do to
increase student achievement.
Building professional development is focused on
strategies and interventions that target specific
students below level.
Progress Monitoring
Preparing Students to Compete in a Global Society
2010-2011
Reading Progress is monitored quarterly through
assessment with DIBELs, Rigby and/or Fountas and
Pinnell for students not at benchmark.
Writing Progress is monitored three times a year through
assessment for knowledge and experience. We are
adding school-wide assessments for opinion/persuasive,
and informational writing to align with the new core
standards.
Mathematics is monitored three times per year with a
pre, mid year and post test by using the district
mathematics assessment.
Assessment Data
Preparing Students to Compete in a Global Society
2010-2011
Building and classroom data includes both formative
and summative assessments.
Teachers and administrators dig deeper to analyze
student data (Economically Disadvantaged data,
MEAP data)
Multiple assessments are used in the building and in
the classroom to determine student performance.
Assessment Data
Preparing Students to Compete in a Global Society
2010-2011
MEAP Cohort Data and Yearly Data (3, 4, 5, 6)
MEAP Scores – Categories (2L, 3, 4, Economically
Disadvantaged, Special Education and Intervention
Paraprofessional Support)
Reading Progress Monitoring (Quarterly Reading
Assessment with students not at benchmark)
Writing Progress Monitoring (5 times a year to meet the
new core standards 2011 -2012)
