Our documents are complete with detailed descriptions for supporting academic achievement. Burr teaching teams utilize a 90/80/90 model which focuses on 90% proficiency in reading, 80% proficiency in writing and 90% proficiency in mathematics for the 2011 - 2012 school year. Strategies Preparing Students to Compete in a Global Society 2010-2011 Strategies are research based instructional practices that improve student achievement. Strategies are specific and measurable. Strategies are action oriented. They are what the vertical, grade level teams and teachers will do to increase student achievement. Building professional development is focused on strategies and interventions that target specific students below level. Progress Monitoring Preparing Students to Compete in a Global Society 2010-2011 Reading Progress is monitored quarterly through assessment with DIBELs, Rigby and/or Fountas and Pinnell for students not at benchmark. Writing Progress is monitored three times a year through assessment for knowledge and experience. We are adding school-wide assessments for opinion/persuasive, and informational writing to align with the new core standards. Mathematics is monitored three times per year with a pre, mid year and post test by using the district mathematics assessment. Teachers and administrators dig deeper to analyze student data (Economically Disadvantaged data, MEAP data) Multiple assessments are used in the building and in the classroom to determine student performance.
