Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering ME3180 Mechanical Engineering Design Homework: • Since teamwork is an essential part of any design environment, the class will be divided into groups of three students. You will work on your homework in these groups. • Each member of the group must actively participate in the group discussions and solving each problem set on paper for his/her name to be included in the solution the group turns in. • Any violation of this constitutes cheating, therefore a violation of GIT Honor Code. • At the end of the semester, you will rate each other’s participation level in homework through an anonymous peer evaluation. • Homework scores will then each member The George W. Woodruff Schoolbe of adjusted Mechanicalfor Engineering based on his or her participation. ME3180 Mechanical Engineering Design Homework (Cont’d): • Sets of homework will be assigned regularly, and they will be collected a week later. • Solutions will be provided at the time each graded homework papers are returned. • You are forbidden from coping from old homework solutions, or coping from solution manuals. To do so will be considered a violation of the Georgia Tech’s Honor Code. • The same applies to any takehome test or exam. • You can use one page formula sheet during each test. You will turn in your formula sheet with your test paper. • Final exam will be open book. The George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering ME3180 Mechanical Engineering Design Schedules: • Homework: ------------------------------------------- 9% • Test #1: June 11 -------------------------------------20% • Test #2: June 27 -------------------------------------20% • Test #3: July 23 --------------------------------------20% • Three Impromptu Quizzes ---------------------------6% • Final Exam: July 30 (2:50 pm – 5:40 pm)--------25% Note: • You are responsible for materials covered during your absence. • Class handouts are only given out in class. • No make-up lectures or quizzes/tests/extra credit/exam; you will get a zero for each quiz/test/extra credit/exam you miss, unless you made prior arrangements with the instructor to take it earlier. The George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering ME3180 Mechanical Engineering Design Note (Cont’d) • Only in the case of extenuating circumstance would permission be granted to take the test or exam early. • Quizzes and extra credit problems are impromptu; therefore, there will be no make-up for them. • No extra work will given for grade improvement. • There will be extra credit questions asked in the class to encourage class participations and to encourage you to pay attention in the class. There will also be extra credit problems assigned. • Late homework will be penalized 25% for every day that it is late. No home work will be accepted once graded homework is returned. • Review of test/quiz/homework/extra credit grades must The George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering be done within one week after the test is returned.
