1324 I KNOW HE RESCUED MY SOUL
Reuben Morgan
I KNOW HE RESCUED MY SOUL,
His blood has covered my sin,
I believe, I believe.
My shame He's taken away,
My pain is healed in His name,
I believe, I believe.
I'll raise a banner;
My Lord has conquered the grave.
ICEL
My Redeemer lives, my Redeemer lives;
My Redeemer lives, my Redeemer lives.
You lift my burden, I'll rise with You:
I'm dancing on this mountain-top
To see Your kingdom come.

652 ALMIGHTY GOD, MY REDEEMER
Darlene Zschech
ALMIGHTY GOD, MY REDEEMER,
My hiding place, my safe refuge;
No other name like Jesus,
No power can stand against You.
My feet are planted on this rock,
And I will not be shaken;
My hope it comes from You alone,
My Lord and my salvation.
ICEL
Your praise is always on my lips,
Your word is living in my heart,
And I will praise You with a new song:
My soul will bless You, Lord.
You fill my life with greater joy;
Yes, I delight myself in You,
And I will praise You with a new song:
My soul will bless You, Lord.
ICEL
When I am weak, You make me strong;
When I’m poor, I know I’m rich,
For in the power of Your name
All things are possible,
All things are possible,
All things are possible,
All things are possible.

1193 BLESSÈD BE YOUR NAME
Matt & Beth Redman
BLESSÈD BE YOUR NAME
In the land that is plentiful,
Where Your streams of abundance flow,
Blessèd be Your name.
And blessèd be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place,
Though I walk through the wilderness,
Blessèd be Your name.
ICEL
Every blessing You pour out I'll
Turn back to praise.
When the darkness closes in, Lord,
Still I will say:
Blessèd be the name of the Lord,
Blessèd be Your name.
Blessèd be the name of the Lord,
Blessèd be Your glorious name.
ICEL
Blessèd be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me,
When the world's 'all as it should be',
Blessèd be Your name.
And blessèd be Your name
On the road marked with suffering,
Though there's pain in the offering,
Blessèd be Your name.
ICEL
Every blessing You pour out I'll
Turn back to praise.
When the darkness closes in, Lord,
Still I will say:
Blessèd be the name of the Lord,
Blessèd be Your name.
Blessèd be the name of the Lord,
Blessèd be Your glorious name.
ICEL
You give and take away,
You give and take away.
My heart will choose to say:
Lord, blessèd be Your name.
Blessèd be the name of the Lord,
Blessèd be Your name.
Blessèd be the name of the Lord,
Blessèd be Your glorious name.

27 AS THE DEER
Martin J Nystrom
AS THE DEER pants for the water,
So my soul longs after You.
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship You.
You alone are my strength, my shield,
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship You.
ICEL
I want You more than gold or silver,
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy-giver
And the apple of my eye.
You alone are my strength, my shield,
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship You.
ICEL
You’re my Friend and You are my Brother,
Even though You are a King.
I love You more than any other,
So much more than anything.
You alone are my strength, my shield,
To You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship You.

1528 THANK YOU FOR THE CROSS
Darlene Zschech
THANK YOU FOR THE CROSS, LORD,
Thank You for the price You paid.
Bearing all my sin and shame,
In love You came
And gave amazing grace.
Thank You for this love, Lord,
Thank You for the nail-pierced hands.
Washed me in Your cleansing flow,
Now all I know:
Your forgiveness and embrace.
ICEL
Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne,
Crown You now with many crowns.
You reign victorious,
High and lifted up,
Jesus, Son of God,
The darling of heaven crucified.
Worthy is the Lamb.
Worthy is the Lamb.

Luke 15:1-2, 11-32
Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering
around to hear Jesus. 2 But the Pharisees and the
teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes
sinners and eats with them.”
11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons.
12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me
my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property
between them.
13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he
had, set off for a distant country and there squandered
his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything,
there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he
began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out
to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to
feed pigs.
ICEL
16 He
longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs
were eating, but no one gave him anything. 17 “When he
came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s
hired servants have food to spare, and here I am
starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my
father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against
heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be
called your son; make me like one of your hired
servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father.
“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him
and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his
son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against
heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be
called your son.’
ICEL
22 “But
the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best
robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and
sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it.
Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine
was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’
So they began to celebrate.
25 “Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he
came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So
he called one of the servants and asked him what was
going on. 27 ‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and
your father has killed the fattened calf because he has
him back safe and sound.’
28 “The older brother became angry and refused to go in.
So his father went out and pleaded with him.
ICEL
29 But
he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve
been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders.
Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could
celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours
who has squandered your property with prostitutes
comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’
31 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and
everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate
and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and
is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

Introduction
1. A short-lived joy
2. The great decision
3. Expiation Heb. 2:17:
“For this reason he had to be made like them, fully
human in every way, in order that he might become a
merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and
that he might make atonement for the sins of the
people.”
4. An unbrotherly attitude
Conclusion and application
ICEL
1187 BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD ABOVE
Charitie L. Bancroft (1841-92)
BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD ABOVE,
I have a strong, a perfect plea,
A great High Priest whose name is Love,
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart;
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart,
No tongue can bid me thence depart.
ICEL
When Satan tempts me to despair,
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end to all my sin.
Because the sinless Saviour died,
My sinful soul is counted free;
For God the Just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me,
To look on Him and pardon me.
ICEL
Behold Him there! The risen Lamb,
My perfect, spotless righteousness;
The great unchangeable I AM,
The King of glory and of grace!
One with Himself I cannot die,
My soul is purchased with His blood;
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ, my Saviour and my God,
With Christ my Saviour and my God.

First lunch will be on Sunday 30 September 2012

and be joyful, for this will go with him in his toil through the days of his life that God
has given him under the sun.

583 WE’LL WALK THE LAND
Graham Kendrick
WE’LL WALK THE LAND with hearts on fire,
And every step will be a prayer.
Hope is rising, new day dawning,
Sound of singing fills the air.
Two thousand years, and still the flame
Is burning bright across the land.
Hearts are waiting, longing, aching,
For awakening once again.
ICEL
Let the flame burn brighter
In the heart of the darkness,
Turning night to glorious day.
Let the song grow louder
As our love grows stronger,
Let it shine, let it shine.
ICEL
We’ll walk for truth, speak out for love;
In Jesus’ name we shall be strong,
To lift the fallen, to save the children,
To fill the nation with Your song.
ICEL
Let the flame burn brighter
In the heart of the darkness,
Turning night to glorious day.
Let the song grow louder
As our love grows stronger,
Let it shine, let it shine.
