Global Challenges, Smart City Solutions
A visit to the Holland Smart City House will introduce you the Dutch solutions for Metropolitan and
Urban Challenges . See and experience how the Dutch Sustainable Urban Delta deals with efficiency in
its most comprehensive form as well as our Green Deal Cities for smart sustainable solutions and even
a German Dutch urban collaboration. The following participants are presenting their smart city
solutions:
The Dutch Sustainable Urban Delta (SUD)
The Sustainable Urban Delta (SUD) is a cluster of stakeholders from the Dutch Topsector Energy. The
SUD represents the typical Dutch approach based on pragmatism and consensus to come up with
optimal solutions for urban challenges. They will present a vision on a social and environmental
sustainable life in the urban delta. The SUD will present solutions for clean and secure energy, energy
efficient buildings, resource efficient industries, waste and resource efficiency, water, air pollution,
transportation and logistics, big data, efficient use of land and subsoil and safe and secure public
environment.
Green deal cities: Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven
In the Netherlands, the cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Eindhoven are leading when it comes to
smart city solutions. As a group of cities, and through an integrated approach, these green deal cities
will present their solutions for the challenges that these many cities face. Visit these Dutch cities and
learn more about the unique Amsterdam City Solutions, experience how the Rotterdam Climate Proof
program connect water challenges with opportunities and see how Eindhoven brings together the
digital and societal revolution in the Connect & Add programs to provide solutions for pressing societal
problems.
Smart Region North and Sensor City
A perfect example of Dutch-German cooperation is the alliance of the Dutch cities Groningen, Assen
and the German cities of Oldenburg and Bremen. This so-called ‘Smart North Region’ will present their
cross-border solutions on topics, such as energy, mobility, healthcare and public administration. In
addition, these participants will present their vision on the so-called ‘Sensor City’, a citywide fiber
network based on an innovative sensor system technology. The Hanze Institute of Technology is also
present in the Smart City House.
NLIngenieurs a vision for future urban infrastructure
The Dutch association for architectural companies, NLIngenieurs, will present how future urban building and
infrastructure should look like in order to deal with urban challenges.
Starting International Urban Entrepreneurs
The Holland Smart City House also offers a platform for a group of eight young and innovative startup companies,
providing unique future oriented solutions for urban challenges, such as building on water, integrated roof wind
energy and other energy efficient solutions.
