Way forward
Given that the importance of livestock and cross border trade
in the IGAD region;
• IGAD will promote regional trade by supporting policy
dialogues among member states to facilitate and improve
cross border trading system
• IGAD facilitate and support the implementation of the IGAD
regional Animal Health policy framework
Way forward
• IGAD support and work jointly with Member states in improving cross
border animal health and market infrastructure while promoting
investment in livestock and pastoral areas
• IGAD, in collaboration with member states, FAO and other partners,
assist in data collection and developing a data base on cross border
livestock trade
• IGAD in collaboration with FAO, support Member states in capacity
building of stakeholders in cross border programming and trade
facilitation
• IGAD convene regional meeting regularly on cross-border facilitation
with stakeholders including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in MS
