ENVIRONMENT AND URBAN DESIGN TEAM
OFFER OF SERVICE
Purpose and Role
The Environment and Urban Design team offer technical services as part of
the Highways and Network Operations Group. The team is a centre of
excellence for strategic advice, research, information and support for transport
related natural environment, social, culture and heritage, human health and
urban design issues.
We work across the Transport Agency, with our suppliers, key stakeholders
and customers. We aim to reduce adverse environmental impacts, improve
social cohesion and enable positive human health outcomes.
Our focus areas are: the application of environmental risk management,
resource efficiency and urban design principles; development and
implementation of national standards and guidelines; education and training;
research; consenting and consent compliance management; monitoring and
auditing, supplier contracting, quality assurance and; stakeholder and
customer engagement.
Scope of Services
Our aim is to:
• Provide efficient, effective and consistent technical support for transport
and resource planners, project, asset, property, contract, network and
journey managers;
• Ensure consistent application of operational policy and best practice in the
engagement and management of external suppliers;
• Provide services that are prioritised to meet the needs of regional offices;
• Maintain long term relationships with consenting and regulatory
authorities such as Department of Conservation, Heritage NZ and local
authorities;
• Ensure continuous improvement of relevant organisational processes and
practices;
• Monitor and audit consent compliance and delivery of environmental and
social outcomes.
