OFFICIAL PDR TEAM 6-8 HOUR
BASIC COURSE TEMPLATE
This template is designed for an intro level exposure to PDR. While it is
designed for 6-8 hours, the depth of information covered will ultimately
determine it's length. It could easily be expanded for a longer course. A 6-8
hour course should cover only the subject matter necessary for the end user
to leave empowered, and with a basic understanding and successful
experience of the fundamental drills. Save the more in depth substance
matter discussions for intermediate/advanced students and/or longer courses.
For slides with video, you will have to insert them into the slides yourself (the
video has to be on the computer you are using to show the PPT). If you are
not up to the task or are not using a computer, burn the videos/photos to a
DVD and show them to the class in that manner.
There are optional slides (indicated by yellow titles) that should only be covered
if time permits.
There are instructor notes on most slides that you can print out and review. It is
not necessary to cover all of the notes in you presentations, however the
critical fundamental notes should always be covered. In depth notes on the
drills are in the "Drill Description Manual".

BASIC COURSE TEMPLATE cont,
If you are not already familiar with Power Point, get familiar with it as it is an
efficient tool for organizing courses and presentations. It has several
different ways for viewing slides on your computer, creating animations for
slides, printing handouts and it even allows you to export the slides, notes or
both to Word to create a handy instructor course manual.
You may reorganize slides if necessary and print them as handouts for your
courses, but the instructor notes are not for public consumption. Note: there
is no animation included in the PPT…you may add it if you like.
Any handouts you give to students to have the footer below printed on them.---© Copyright Tactical Systems - Permission is granted to quote, reprint or

SAFETY WARNING
READ BEFORE YOU START THIS COURSE OR USE THIS MANUAL
The techniques, tools, tactics and concepts described in our courses, videos, manuals and audio's are to be used
for legitimate purposes only, in appropriate combat, law enforcement or self-defense situations.
Do not depend on any video, audio or manual for your safety. Your safety depends upon you and your ability to
avoid, defuse and/or control confrontations. Your safety depends on your judgment during all confrontations.
If you are a beginner, seek the guidance of an experienced trainer. If you are a trainer make sure you and your
students fully understand the legal and moral implications of practicing and using self-defense, protective or
combative tactics in your country, state, province, city and so on.
This material is presented for educational purposes ONLY. VOLENTI NON FIT INJURIA. When you agree to
learn, study or practice any marital art, combative or defensive tactics system you are “consenting to
participate”. When you train in any martial art system, combative or defensive tactics system, there is an
‘assumption of risk’, especially those systems geared towards realistic street protection. Practice, train and use
this information at your OWN RISK. Practice safely. Seek competent instruction. Seek competent counsel on use
of force matters for your safety based on your lifestyle and or occupation.
If you misinterpret a concept expressed in our seminars, manuals, videos or audios you could be seriously
injured or killed as a result of the misunderstanding. Therefore the information contained in our courses, videos,
manual and audios should be used as a supplement to competent personal instruction, diligent practice, personal
evaluation and then balanced with the moral & legal application of any protective tactic.

dealt with through avoidance and de-escalation

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF
INTIMIDATION
“When you’re visualizing what your opponent
can do to you… instead of what you can do to
your opponent!”- Tony Blauer
“Your opponent is already dangerous – don’t
make them more dangerous by imbuing them
with skills that they haven’t yet proven.”
-Tony Blauer
THE POWER OF
INDIGNATION
“There are more people who have successfully
defended themselves through sheer will &
indignation, with absolutely no training what-soever, than there are trained people who have been
attacked and successfully defended themselves.”
-Tony Blauer
BE YOUR OWN BODYGUARD™
“What do you see yourself doing to protect someone
else that you do not see yourself doing to protect
yourself?”… BYOB

THE PERSONAL DIRECTIVE
Generic PD:
“When faced with the threat of an attack I will do what I can to
avoid the confrontation with as little violence as possible
occurring to both myself and my attacker(s).”
A directive is like your personal mission statement.
 It’s a mental trigger to help you shift from a reactive mind-set to
a tactical one.
 If it is realistic and supported by realistic training, it will kick in
when you need it.


It is supported by the Three P's
