By 2020, the BLS estimates that the number of jobs requiring
advanced degrees will increase by 2.5 million.
•18% increase in jobs requiring a masters degree
•17% increase in jobs requiring a doctoral degree
Impact of Graduate Students on UT
It has been previously calculated that each UT graduate assistant
has an average ROI of $121,188.
Recently, $500,000 was invested to fund 37 new graduate
assistantships. It expected that these new assistantships will have
a total ROI of $4,483,936.

GSA’s Most popular programs
• Travel Reimbursement program
The GSA reviews travel applications to help more than
100 graduate students with aid totalling over $20,000 in
aid in 2012-13 allowing them to present their research at
the National and International Level.
• Research Awards program
In 2012-13 the GSA gave out 10 research awards to
graduate students totaling over $16,000 to fund cutting
edge research.
Known Regionally and Nationally for Our
Positive Impact on Graduate Studies
UT GSA was recently invited to speak at the 2012 National Conference
for the National Association of Graduate and Professional Students
(NAGPS) at Duke University.
