Applied Research 1. Association of Canadian Community Colleges 2011: Applied Research has the potential to introduce new products or processes which can increase productivity, preserve or create jobs, contribute to the growth of a company, thus supporting community and regional development. 2. Government of Canada: Work undertaken to advance scientific knowledge with a specific practical application in view. This type of research advances the current understanding of scientific principles, methodologies or relations. 3. OECD 2012: Applied research is original investigation undertaken in order to acquire new knowledge. It is, however, directed primarily towards a specific practical aim or objective.
