Lungs
By Duncan Macmillan
Direction: Katie Mitchell
All electricity needed for the production is generated live on stage by the actors
and six additional cyclists. The actors provide their own spotlights with electricity
by constantly riding their bicycles. Six cyclists in the background are connected to
one circuit with the sound processor, the microphones and the speakers as well as
the projection screen. Colin Tonks developed the bicycles generating power for the
show especially for this purpose. Please find more information here:

Power Generation
Jenny König and Christoph
Gawenda sustain an average of
75 kilowatt hours of power which
is about 108.75 kilowatt hours per
performance (87 minutes).
Both actors together generate a
total of about 217.5 kilowatt hours
over 87 minutes.
They are thus supplying energy for:
2 × 35 watt halogen bulbs
2 × 25 watt halogen bulbs

Power Generation
Each cyclist generates an average
of 70 kilowatt hours of power which
corresponds to an effort of about
101.5 kilowatt hours of energy per
cyclist and per performance.
All six cyclists together generate
a total of about 609 kilowatt hours
energy over 87 minutes.
Thereby they supply energy for:
2 × 600 watt speakers (power
consumption about 100 watt)
1 × mixer with 8 inputs (power
consumption about 30 watt)
1 × BP10 LED-Projector (power
consumption about 140 watt)
1 × Effect-Pedal (power consumption
about 140 watt)
