Solidarity with the struggle of the Belgian trade unions
On behalf of GPA-djp Austria, we express our full solidarity with your
ongoing legitimate struggle against the proposed austerity policies and
anti-union practices of the new Belgian government. We also want to
express our full support for the general strike on Monday, December 15th.
We ourselves experienced a conservative government between 2000
and 2006, which implemented neoliberal reforms, undermined socialand labour rights and attacked trade unionism and the Austrian model of
social partnership. Therefore we fully understand your situation and your
struggle to uphold the living conditions and the pension rights in Belgium.
Attacks against collective bargaining and trade unionism have become a
daily business in many European countries during the ongoing crisis. We
see it as crucial to defend the rights of workers and employees and also
create a political and social environment with decent living and working
conditions all over the world.
An injury to one is an injury to all. Your struggle is our struggle.
