FORUM ON NATURAL DISASTERS DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND CLIMATE ADAPTATION – WHERE RESEARCH MEETS PRACTICE 18 – 19 November 2014, Stockholm In collaboration with the Swedish National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction and the National Knowledge Centre for Climate Change Adaptation FORUM ON NATURAL DISASTERS AN ANNUAL MEETING FOR THOSE OF US WHO WANT TO REDUCE THE RISK AND IMPACT OF NATURAL DISASTERS AND NATURAL HAZARDS Welcome to the 2014 Forum on Natural Disasters! Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Adaptation – Where Research Meets Practice • What knowledge does Sweden need in order to be able to manage natural disasters, natural hazards and climate adaptation? • How can research contribute to these efforts? • How can we benefit from international cooperation? For the third year in a row, the Forum on Natural Disasters is being held. It is a forum for exchanging knowledge and experiences and for stimulating discussions related to natural disasters, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation in Sweden. This year the forum has been expanded to two days. The first day will have a national focus and will be held in Swedish. The second day will have a more international perspective and will be held in English. You are welcome to participate one or both days. During these two days there will be a variety of activities including presentations of current research results, commissioned public reports, and public sector development projects as well as small group discussions and networking opportunities in the exhibition area. Together we hope to be able to identify and discuss the opportunities and challenges that Sweden faces today and is expected to encounter in the future. The forum is aimed at policy makers and practitioners working in the public and private sectors as well as researchers and graduate students. The target group also includes those holding political offices at the local, regional and central levels. The forum is scheduled for 18 – 19 November 2014, and is being organised by CNDS, the official network of the Swedish National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction driven by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), MSB’s Research Management Section, and the National Knowledge Centre for Climate Change Adaptation at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI). You are warmly welcome to register at this time! Please circulate this invitation to your colleagues and others who may be interested in participating. When and where? 18 – 19 November 2014, at the Swedish National Defence College in Stockholm. Registration, additional information about the speakers and the program are available at: www.cnds.se/eng/forum2014 Last day for registration is 7 November Participation is free of charge and includes refreshments and lunch on both days.
