Sunday 12th February After an introduction to the Galilee, we first view the 2000 year old “Jesus boat” … Sunday 12th February We then sail across the lake on a replica of this boat, pausing on the lake for our Sunday worship… Sunday 12th February We visit Kursi on the Sea of Galilee - the site associated with the story of the “Gadarene swine” … Sunday 12th February … continue to Capernaum (Jesus’ home town) … Sunday 12th February … where we see Peter’s house and the ancient synagogue. Sunday 12th February We visit Tabgha (associated with the feeding of the 5000, and one of Jesus’ resurrection appearances) Sunday 12th February We end the day with worship together on the “Mount of the Beatitudes” Monday 13th February Today we explore Galilee more, passing Mount Tabor (site of the Transfiguration) … Monday 13th February We visit Cana (the site of Jesus’ first miracle, turning water into wine) … Monday 13th February In Nazareth, we visit sites connected with the childhood of Jesus … Monday 13th February … and the Mount of the Precipice, where Jesus walked through the crowd that sought to throw him down … Monday 13th February … we also visit Nazareth Village, built to show life and trades in the time of Jesus Tuesday 14th February Leaving the Galilee, we drive south passing through the Wadi Kelt (the valley of the shadow of death) and St George’s Monastery Tuesday 14th February Arriving in Jerusalem, we view the city from the top of the Mount of Olives … Tuesday 14th February We see the Western Wall - a buttressing wall which is all that remains of the Temple … … hopefully, seeing a Bar Mitzvah… Tuesday 14th February We visit the tunnels under the Temple Mount Tuesday 14th February We continue to see the excavations of David’s city Tuesday 14th February … and, for those who want, walk through Hezekiah’s tunnel, emerging at the Pool of Siloam Tuesday 14th February Our new hotel is within the Palestinian territory, in Bethlehem Wednesday 15th February In the morning we visit Herodion, one of Herod’s palaces … Wednesday 15th February … the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem … Wednesday 15th February … the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem … Wednesday 15th February We see the “Shepherds’ Fields” … Wednesday 15th February The remainder of the day is free to meet local Arab Christians, visit the Bethlehem Bible College, and visit a local school Thursday 16th February We travel to Bethany to see the tomb of Lazarus … Thursday 16th February ….and then walk into Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, following the route Jesus took on the first Palm Sunday … Thursday 16th February …. stopping at the Dominus Flavit church, which marks the place where Jesus wept over Jerusalem Thursday 16th February We spend some time with contemplation and worship at Gethsemane … Thursday 16th February … and then follow the “Last path” through the Kidron valley … Thursday 16th February … and visit a possible site of Caiaphas’ house Thursday 16th February We see a possible location of the Upper Room … Thursday 16th February We then settle into our new hotel in Jerusalem Friday 17th February We visit the Bethesda pool, where Jesus healed the paralysed man Friday 17th February We see the Lithostratus (thought to be part of the courtyard from Herod’s Antonia Fortress) Friday 17th February We follow part of the “Via Dolorosa” – remembering Jesus’ walk to the cross … Friday 17th February We see the Church of the Holy Sepulchre - the traditional location of the crucifixion Friday 17th February We finish the day with quiet reflexion at an alternative site for Jesus’ death and resurrection … “Gordon’s Calvary” and the Garden Tomb Saturday 18th February A free day!
