Open alcohol pad. Wipe rubber stopper with alcohol pad. Avatar: Be sure to allow the alcohol to dry. The desiccant effect of the evaporated alcohol is what destroys most microorganisms. Pull an amount of air a little less than or equal to the amount of medication needed from the vial. Tip: Remember, do not remove the cap yet. Uncap the needle. AIR SHOULD BE IN THIS SYRINGE SO THE PLUNGER SHOULD BE PULLED BACK TO AN AMT EQUAL TO THE MED NEEDED FROM THE VIAL Place the needle tip on the rubber stopper with the bevel facing up. Pull solution from the vial into the syringe. The positive pressure created by the injected the air should make it easier to pull solution from the vial. What’s wrong with this situation? Holding vial incorrectly… Withdraw the amount of solution needed from the vial Make sure to keep the needle in the solution or you will get air bubbles. Inject any air bubbles back into the vial. Withdraw the needle from the vial. Recap the needle.
