• Imaginative, impossible, contraptions portrayed in cartoon form
• Homework Machines:
• Similar to Rube Goldberg
Contraptions but serve young students
• Machines of Great Inventions:
• Ease unpleasant chores, work, provide entertainment or profit, etc.

Your Marvelous Machine!
• Materials:
• 12” x 18” white drawing paper
• rulers,
• scratch paper,
• pencils,
• erasers,
• Flair pens,
• colored pencils, and
• watercolor markers

Your Marvelous Machine!
• Planning:
• Think of 3 possible machines you could create on paper.
List them.
• Decide which one you would like to create in detail on paper and make a speedy, simple sketch.

Your Marvelous Machine!
• Drawing:
• Lightly sketch your machine, relying upon your simple, preliminary sketch.
• Fix things if they are crowded or have too little to them (using the page wisely).
• Draw your machine, using a ruler where needed.

• Drawing continued:
• Color in your drawing to add drama and emphasis.
• Add labels to explain parts of your machine or how it works.
• Use the Flair pen or pens to add finished, fine line details and edges to your machine, characters, and text or titles.

• Finishing:
• Hand in your completed
“Twittering Machine” assignment.
• Be sure to have your name and class on the machine.
• Complete the checklist and hand it in with your drawing.
