Today’s Lesson
We will read the opening scene of Hamlet and
discuss the atmosphere that Shakespeare evokes
for the audience.
2. You will analyse the language of Act 1 Scene 1
finding key quotes that demonstrate the dramatic
techniques Shakespeare uses.
3. We will watch Act 1 Scene 1 of three directors'
interpretations of Shakespeare's play and discuss
the techniques they use to evoke atmosphere.
4. You will discuss which of the three you thought was
most effective and write a paragraph making
evaluations and judgements justifying your choice.
