The Life Cycle Of A Goldfish
• A female goldfish lays eggs.
• The male goldfish fertilizes
the eggs.
• After 2-3 days the eggs
hatch. A small fish is called
a fry.
• It takes about a year for a
goldfish to mature.

Differences in Male and
Female Guppies
• Anal fin shape in males is rod shaped, in
females it is fan shaped.
• Females has smaller dorsal fins.
• Females have a gravid spot that holds
eggs.
• Caudal fin or tail is smaller and less fancy in
females than in males.
• Males have a larger dorsal fin than females.

• Unlike goldfish, guppies do not lay eggs. They
give birth to live fish.
• They are tropical fish that love warm water.
• They can be orange, black, yellow, white, red,
brown, or a combination of those colors.
• There are 3 basic kinds of guppies--Fancy,
Swordtail and Common or Feeder. However
there are hundreds of varieties!

• Once the eggs are mature,
the guppy gives birth to live
fish. A small fish is called a
fry.
• A fry eats it’s egg yolk for
the first few days of life.
• It takes about three months
for a guppy to mature.
