Why doesn’t Troy scout Granite Falls? What
are the results?
 Helicopters are parked where they would have to
land their rafts.
 During a tense run, Troy and Freddy successfully
guide the boats through the rapid.
Explain the conflict between Troy and
Freddy as the group approaches Crystal.
 They encounter heavy rain, and the rapid is
ferocious.
 Troy talks about how to run the rapid;
Freddy disagrees and thinks they should
carry the gear and walk around through the
boulders.
 Troy and Adam attempt to raft the rapid; the
others follow Freddy.
What are the results of Troy’s actions?
How does Freddy again prove his ability?
 Troy’s boat flips, and he and Adam barely
escape alive.
 Adam dislocates his shoulder.
 Freddy is the key person in salvaging the boat.
 He replaces Adam’s shoulder. Freddy advises
against spending the night there, but Troy
insists.
