Being Single & Waiting on Who God


1 Cor. 7:32-37 speaks on the fact that unmarried people are
free to be concerned only with the things of God, while a
married person has divided interests and cannot be totally
focused on God.

2 Cor 6:14-17 do not be yoked together with unbelievers.
For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?
Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What
harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a
believer have in common with an unbeliever? What
agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?
For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said “I
will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their
God, and they will be my people.” “Therefore come out
from them and be separate.”

Being single is being Separate, Unique and Whole
Singleness is not the same as being alone (being alone
can be unhealthy and negative, but not being single)
Gen. 2:18
 Paul remained single and lived a life of celibacy 1 Cor.
7:6-8
 Alone is being exclusive, isolated, and solitary and
God said this was not good for man
 Adam was so separate, unique and whole that he
didn’t perceive a need to have someone of his kind
around him, God perceived that for Adam. So having a
companion was not Adam’s idea, but God’s.

Gen. 2:18 God made someone suitable for Adam, so
He will choose someone suitable for you
 Marriage will not solve aloneness, nor was it
instituted to solve that problem. Another human
being was created to answer the problem for
aloneness
 God presented the woman to the man (Gen 2:22-23),
he preserved man’s power to choose, Adam made the
decision. God will choose your mate for you,
expressing his wishes. However, He won’t make you
choose that person because that would violate your
will and power of choice.

God only presents us with options, like
salvation, but He never chooses for us.
He limits Himself to only expressing
His wishes for us, not making us fulfill
His wishes
You have the power of choice to
exercise among many individuals that
life will present to you. Whether or not
you use the Word, Wisdom and
Characteristics of God’s Nature to
make that choices is up to you

Each key on a key ring is unique, separate, and
whole, yet all of the keys are joined by a common
ring. The keys are single, but not alone; thus it is
possible to be single and not alone.
 Being separated, unique, and whole is the
foundation to any relationship or marriage; it
qualifies you to be married
 If you become consumed with who you are in
God, God will have to interrupt you to bring you
a companion (Ruth/Boaz: Ruth 2:4-5, 14-15; 3:11;
Rebekah/Isaac: Gen. 24:12-21,50,58,66-67)

Men are to select the women (with God’s
guidance) Proverbs 18:22; 19:14
Your marriage will only be as successful as
your singleness because you can only bring
to the marriage what you are as a person
alone.
If you need to get married to be fulfilled or
loved you are not ready
MUST FIRST KNOW WHO YOU ARE IN
GOD
MUST SECONDLY LOVE YOURSELF
Being Single & Waiting on Who God

MUST HAVE YOUR EGO, SOUL AND SPIRITUAL
NEEDS FULFILLED IN GOD BECAUSE NO
PERSON CAN FILL YOUR EMPTY VOIDS
 MUST BE SUCCESSFUL AT BEING SINGLE – IF YOU
CANNOT CONTROL YOUR EMOTIONS, YOUR
PASSIONS, YOUR FEELINGS, YOUR ATTITUDES
AND BEHAVIOR – THEN YOU ARE NOT
PREPARED FOR MARRIAGE

THE WORLD WON’T MOVE YOU
