Statewide Career Pathways: Creating School to College Articulation Vocational Education Leadership Workshop January 27, 2011 Nancy Jones, Coastline College Elizabeth Harvey, Riverside City College Project Overview • To facilitate articulation between high schools, ROCPs, and colleges. – Create Articulation Agreements/Templates – Educate Students, Parents, Faculty on Articulation/CTE – Create Database of Articulation Agreements Project Status • Funding Update • Articulation Template and Agreement Status – Over 55 DWGs have convened over the past 4 years. – Templates in all 15 industry sectors! – 118 approved articulation templates posted on the Statewide Career Pathways website. Campaign Collaborating with the “I Can Afford College” campaign New radio, bus, and web banner advertisements New phase of free posters Redesigned website for both teens and reentry workers Continued promotion of the Counselor Toolkit and CTE DVD – Creation of a lesson plan and instructional guide for the Counselor Toolkit 2010 – 11 Project Activities • Provide support and outreach to Tech Prep Coordinators and Articulation Officers • Reduce barriers to students receiving articulated credit – Clarifications and changes to Title 5 – Update and distribute the Articulation Handbook (Fall 2010) • Review articulation templates and encourage population of the articulation agreement database • Pilot Programs of Study Degree Templates • Work with K-12 to pull students through programs • CTE Tool Kits Connection to the Academic Senate • Curriculum one of 10+1 • Written/Coordinated by Statewide Academic Senate • Linked in closely with Senate Executive Committee • Takes advantage of Consultation Process that is used by the Statewide Academic Senate Articulation Agreements 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
