Project objectives:
The overall objective of the project is to
support the economic development of the
cross-border region and increase its
competitiveness by realizing its potential in
the tourist sector.

Project objectives:
The specific objectives of the project are:
1) To accomplish a comprehensive analysis of the tourist resources
in the target region (districts of Montana, Vidin, Nisava and Zajecar)
regarding opportunities for its future development as a tourist
destination and creation of a database of resources;
2) Encouraging the business cooperation between the stakeholders
in the tourist sector from the target cross-border area by creating a
network of the active businesses in the tourist sector;
3) Popularization of the target cross-border region in Serbia,
Bulgaria and foreign countries as a tourist destination;

Target groups:
• Local SMEs and entrepreneurs from the tourist
sector from the cross-border region: hotel/restaurant
owners, rural houses owners, organizations offering
various local attractions and specific alternative
forms of tourist and sport activities, tourist
associations, tourist clubs, mountain guides,
craftsmen, etc.
• Travel agencies, tourist operators, tourist
information centers
• Representatives of media - local, regional, national

Activities:

Web site promoting the target region as tourist destination;
Database of the resources for tourism in the region;
Analysis of the potential of the region as tourist destination;
Pilot info tours ("test drives") for presentation of the tourist product
before tour operators and media;
• "Open info days" and final press conferences/briefings;
• Bilateral meetings and trainings of beneficiaries;
• Competition for design and elaboration of a souvenir - symbol of the
common tourist product

Results:
• Promotional film and promotional movie clip
presenting the target region as tourist
destination, doubled in English, Bulgarian
and Serbian
• A set of promotional materials for the target
region as tourist destination: brochures,
leaflets, CDs etc. in English, Bulgarian and
Serbian languages
