When you are in the kitchen cooking and the recipes
ask for 2/3 cup of sugar, you have to measure using
that fraction.
If you are decorating your room and you want to put a
new rug on the floor you would need to know the
measurements in order to get the correct fit.
If you were going to make a dress, you would need to
know the persons measurement and how much
material you would need to purchase.
All of the things are a form of fractions.

the amount of an ingredient that was needed.
An construction worker would use fractions to

total amount of your purchase. Adding taxes or
taking discounts.
