Acid Rain
Caused by the release of sulfur dioxide
and nitrogen oxide from factories

Effects include soil erosion, death of
animals and vegetation, erosion of
buildings

Global Warming
Caused by an increase in the amount of
carbon dioxide in the atmosphere
Effects include increase in earth’s
temperature, bizarre weather patterns,
melting of polar ice caps


Ozone Depletion
Caused by the use of coolants and aerosol
cans

Effects include increased UV radiation,
skin cancer and eye disorders

For this assignment, students will form
groups of four

For each slide that appears, groups will
determine the type of air pollution by
providing evidence to support their claims

Groups will also provide ways to avoid the
type of air pollution depicted
What Are You Going to Do?

Responsibilities for the groups of four will
be divided as follows:
◦ One student will explain the slide
◦ One student will determine the problem
◦ One student will come up with a prevention
method
◦ One student will complete the worksheet
handed out before the PowerPoint
