• Deliberate e.g. intention to hurt or humiliate
• Hurtful behaviour with no attempt to say sorry
• Repeated i.e. usually ongoing & not just a oneoff incident
• Imbalance of power – it’s hard for the person
being bullied to defend themselves or make the
bullying stop
