Like all ISO standards ISO 9001 generally undergoes a revision every five years. The main reason for the change is to keep ISO 9001 standard relevant and reflect changes in organisational environments and ensure that it continues to deliver confidence in an organisations ability to provide product or service in line with customer requirements. 4 What are the Changes? The term "product" will be replaced by "goods and services" The word "continual" will be dropped from "continual Improvement" It is expected to replace Preventive Action with emphasis now being placed on risks, risk identification and opportunities and planning actions to address risks. I am sure we can all think of risks (what might we lose) when planning our QMS but how will we go about identifying opportunities (what might we gain) that ... There will be general requirements for documentation, with no references to documented quality manual, documented procedures or to quality records.
