Churchill Fellowships



More than 3,900 Fellowships have been
awarded since 1965
Well over 100 new Fellowships will be
awarded this coming year – at an average
value of $20,000 each
The 2015 Churchill Fellows will be referred to
as 50th Anniversary Churchill Fellows
Eligibility
PERSONAL:
Australian citizens only
Applicants must be over 18 years of age
PROJECT:
Opportunity must not be available in Australia
Must travel overseas for 4-8 weeks in one continuous journey
Can not be part of another project such as a
university qualification or partially funded by another organisation

Need for the project.
Benefits of the project to Australia.
Itinerary and overseas destinations selected.
Achievability of the project.
PERSONAL:
Ability to maximise the opportunity.
Commitment to disseminate findings.
Commitment to make a difference.

It is a very competitive process.
Most applications will tick all the criteria – but
we cannot fund everything.
Make your application stand out.
Selection Process
Short listed by a committee of up to 15 members over a period
of several weeks
Applicants then invited to interview
Successful applicants are notified and are generally able to
travel by July of the year selected- options to defer are
available

Applicants are selected broadly on
area of study, need to travel, commitment, passion, ability
to return the knowledge to the Australian community
A fully completed and mapped out itinerary is not required,
but should be generally accurate

Successful Selection
Applicants are presented to the
State Governor at Government House, and a
dinner is then held in their honour
• Fellowship tour, and produce a report which is
published on the trust’s website, and elsewhere
generally at the Fellows direction
• Upon completion of the report, fellows are
presented with a Medallion
