Injuries: Extrinsic and Intrinsic factors
• Sports injuries are caused by something either
intrinsic or extrinsic
• what do these terms mean?
• Individually, pairs, 4s
• Intrinsic: coming from the inside- intrinsic
injuries result from stress inside an individual
body
What examples are there of intrinsic
injuries
• One example could be that you keep using the
same muscle over and over again.
• Can you think of any sports that may cause a
certain muscle to become injured?
• What are the most common parts in the body
to become injured?
• The most common parts of the body affected
by overuse injuries are the tendons within the
hip, knee, ankle, shoulder and wrist joints
What is an extrinsic Injury?
