Legalizing Industrial Hemp By: Keegan Gormally Introduction Industrial hemp is a very reliable resource through which many current problems could be eased. Such problems are mainly lack of resources, ignorance to the efficiency of the plant, and economical debts. Much widespread worries and cuts need not be made because of this very versatile plant. Lack of Resources http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Di7ZsVPbMk – This video is primarily an example of the Ethos persuasive technique because it uses farmers and figureheads within the agricultural industry to speak in favor of hemp. Logos is also mixed in because the persons speaking explain the logic behind their testimonies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmxFsOsipzo&feature=related – Logos is the most apparent persuasive technique used in this video; much explanation, experimentation, and uses dealing with industrial hemp are explored through logical steps. Mild Mythos and Pathos are sensed at the beginning when the host of the video explains some fond childhood memories of how the forest used to/should be. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvJ2uLq295w&feature=related – This clip is a prime example of Ethos alone being able to convince a forum of people. Mild Logos is used, but Ron Paul is able to mainly employ his image in order to receive a positive response. Efficiency of Hemp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdkXBGKBxjw – This clip is chiefly Logos, for the strength of the car is both explained and demonstrated in an organized and effective way, respectively. An infusion of Ethos is present as well because the car was designed and produced by Henry Ford. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRtDh6YUt0&feature=related – This video primarily deals with Logos. This is because it describes the manufacturing process in detail as well as the statistics of her business. Kairos is also employed at the end; the video blames the current times’ views and laws for holding her business away from its full potential. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDLiHJFPWsM – This video spends the majority of its time bragging about industrial hemp’s history and countless uses; it’s chiefly Ethos. While there are bits of Logos, the narrator/subtitles emphasize Ron Paul and the U.S. Navy and Government as supporters of the plant. Economics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJgHS6SLEe4&feat ure=fvwrel – There was very limited explanation from each farmer on why industrial hemp should be legalized, so this video is mostly Ethos (farmers were speaking for it). With some Logos, however, the farmers use irony to make a point of what they were trying to do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeFqkL1IHFY – This video report is primarily Logos, because its structure is setup in an appropriate, logical, and convincing fashion. Ethos is a lesser attribute, for public legislators and a police officer are used to get the point across. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxi5ejUKzd4&featur e=related – The advertisement clip was mainly Kairos because of the pressure put on the viewer to “Join Now.” It had a bit of Pathos as well; it provides comfort when the video said that one could meet others just like themselves. Conclusion The wide varieties of tasks that industrial hemp could be employed with is astounding. Currently, the self – renewing plant is biased against or is unnoticed mainly because of its legal status. Lack of resources, ignorance to the efficiency of the plant, and economical debts are the main areas in which industrial hemp is particularly useful. Industrial hemp has the ability to handily solve many current problems.
