The Curriculum: The Summer Service
Learning Program
1) “Public project aimed at alleviating
China’s poverty-stricken areas”
2) “Eliminate poverty by spreading
knowledge”
SSLP’s Reach
• 966 learning centers have been established
• A total of 924 counties are participating in the program
• Since 2006, 1474 Tsinghua students and 282 American
students have been sent to rural regions of China
• Currently, 23 American Universities are participants in the
program
• The plans for 2011 include sending 70 American students to
Beijing to collaborate with 150 Tsinghua students who will
then be deployed to a total of 30 counties around the map
