 Terbium, and its most common alloy
terfenol, change shape when placed in a
magnetic field. A rod of terfenol will
grow longer or shorter depending on
the strength and alignment of the field.
This can be used to turn solid-surfaces
into loudspeakers by placing a terfenol
rod against them.
