Value and respect people by understanding a "win" for all is ultimately a better long-term resolution than if only one person in the situation had got his way. Memilih penyelesaian di mana kedua-dua pihak mendapat manfaat / kebaikan melalui kerjasama. Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood Though more suitable for managers , this habit can be used to strengthen relationships. Create an atmosphere of caring, and positive problem solving. Walaupun tabiat ini lebih sesuai untuk seorang pengurus / pentadbir/ majikan , tetapi boleh juga di gunakan untuk memperkukuhkan perhubungan di antara rakan sedarjah atau guru.
