PDRM 2013 Proposal PR Project 2013 • • • • • • Background Research Objectives Event Overview Event Ideas Event Publicity Venue Layout Outline From our research findings, these are some of the previous campaigns that the PDRM has done : • Road safety campaign e.g. Operasi Sikap. The aim of the campaign is to reduce the accident rate during festival seasons. • Home safety campaign e.g. Rumah Selamat & Selamat Sampai Ke Destinasi. This aims to educate the public on what to do when leaving the house for a long holiday. • Crime awareness day campaign (recently held in Sunway Pyramid) where they reenacted a kidnapping attempt with members of the Special Action Unit. Background Research Based on our survey conducted, these are some of the results : On people’s current perception of the PDRM : “So far they are doing good but it can be improved” “To be brutally honest, it is indeed such a good improvement for PDRM to actually contribute their actions and works towards our country of Malaysia which is also gaining the level of strictness, honesty and efficiency at the same time. However, still not good enough.” “Respected people who defend our country” Background Research Situations in which people most seek the help of PDRM : Background Research Whether people would be curious of the PDRM were to have an event in Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus : Background Research • To improve the youth’s perception of the PDRM • Strengthen the relationship between PDRM and the youths • To increase the awareness and knowledge of people’s basic rights Objectives • Title : -undecided• Theme : We Want You • Taglines : (We want you)… to trust in the PDRM (We want you)… to see the PDRM differently (We want you)… to believe in the PDRM Event Overview • Cluedo/Murder hunt A ‘treasure hunt’ where the participants would have to guess who is the murderer using CSI techniques. Based on the popular board game, Cluedo. E.g. there are 6 crime scenes and the participants would have to visit each crime scene. After visiting each of it, they would have to conclude WHO is the murder suspect, what WEAPON they used and WHERE was the crime scene. The PDRM will have a CSI booth where people can enquire how they really solve these situations. Event Ideas • (DIP 1807) : Intro to PDRM A police ‘course’ where participants will go through a series of checkpoints and will receive a certificate at the end after successfully completing all checkpoints. e.g. Self defence Kidnapped 101 PDRM’s services/responsibilities to the public Consequences of bribing Event Ideas • Operasi P.O.P (Police Outreach Program) On campus activities : Road safety exhibition (indoor) Home safety exhibition (indoor) Cyber awareness (indoor) Re-enactment scene of crimes done by the special action unit branch of the PDRM (outdoor) Police vehicles display (outdoor) K9 squad demonstration (outdoor) Event Ideas Traffic summons booth (indoor) Royal Malaysia Police band performance (outdoor) Royal Malaysia Police marching squad demonstration (outdoor) Talks on rights of the citizens (Suaram) PDRM Mascot ‘Blue Tiger’ Off campus activities : “Meet the public” walkabout in PJS 7 so that the PDRM can meet and strengthen the ties with the public and distribute flyers.
