MOBILE DATA
SERVICE
Mobile Data Service is the key service on the server.
• The BlackBerry MDS Connection Service pushes IT administration
commands to activated devices
• The BlackBerry MDS Connection Service pushes notifications to internal
applications that are already installed on activated devices
• The BlackBerry MDS Connection Service pushes internal applications to
activated devices
• A BlackBerry device user browses to work resources (for example, your
organization's intranet) using HTTP or HTTPS
• An internal application on the device needs to access work resources on
your organization's network
• A user sends or receives email messages, calendar entries, or organizer
data for the user's work email account using Microsoft ActiveSync

• Service separation (placing critical services on one server

• This can be mitigated by creating independent Instances
locally or across data centers

required

Install the BlackBerry Admin Services on separate servers than
the critical Core Services

If you plan on going single server, plan the additional memory
constraint into your build
Microsoft SQL Server

Use SQL Server 2012 and create your database in an Availability
Group to allow for SQL Server failure

device under “Setup,” “Learn How”)
