Handling Remote Calls on Phones
You can handle incoming calls on BLFs or remote lines differently depending on what state your phone is
in: idle, active or alerting.
Idle State - When your phone is idle (no active calls), pressing the BLF button (adjacent to the line) places a
call to that extension. In this case the line acts like a speed dial.
Alerting State - BLF is Alerting when the line is ringing:
• You hear the ring tone if one has been attached.
• The light adjacent to the line flashes.
• The caller ID of the number calling appears on the screen.
Please note: Except on 501 and 601 phones caller ID can be disabled on the main display.
Displayed is an incoming call on a BLF (Z Wong) which displays the ringing icon
and caller ID with the from and to numbers.
To answer the an alerting call on the BLF:
• Lift the handset and press the line key adjacent to the line that is ringing.
• Press the line key adjacent to the line that is ringing. This enables the speaker
phone.
• Press the Pickup soft key. This enables the speaker phone.
• Press the Headset key, then press the line key adjacent to the ringing line.
The call will connect and the caller ID of the number that initiated the call
appears on the screen.
• To ignore the call, press the Silence soft key if a ring tone has been attached.
• To obtain more information about the call press and hold (for more than two seconds) the line key adjacent to the remote line that
is ringing.
• To place a call to the calling party press the Dial soft key.
To place a new call on your own line:
• Press the line key adjacent to a line on your phone or
• Press the New Call soft key.
If you have more than one BLF that is ringing the caller ID for the line
that rang first appears. Displayed is both Z Wong and Ben North’s lines
showing the ringing icon and caller ID from the first call appears.
BLF is Ringing and Has One or More Active or Held Calls
If there is more than one call present on the BLF (for example,
there may be an active call and several calls on hold) you can use
the Arrow keys to scroll through the calls and view the caller ID for
each call.
Displayed are both Helen Cooper’s and Ben North’s lines showing
the busy icon while Z Wong’s line shows the ringing icon. The light
adjacent to the remote line that is ringing flashes green and will
flash red if there are one or more active or held calls and one or
more incoming calls on the BLF.
Please note: Due to a limitation in the signaling between the phone and the call server it is not possible to
answer a BLF ringing call when there is more than one call (active or ringing) on a remote line.
BLF is Ringing With More Than One Incoming Call
If two incoming calls are ringing on a BLF, caller information for both calls
appears. The first call that was placed is highlighted.
Displayed are 2 calls ringing in on Z Wong’s BLF with the first call placed
highlighted.
