Why does this matter now?
In Grade 10, you should start to concern yourself
with prerequisites for senior courses and for
potential post-secondary requirements. Do you
have the language requirements if you want to
go to University? Are you in the right Math
pathway? Most academic courses have previous
courses that have to be taken and passed – many
with a certain percentage. You cannot go into
French 11 if you dropped it in Grade 9.
That’s Graduation…
Now what courses do you
take in Grade 10?

Implications of Math





Any Math 11 course will graduate a student from high
school with a dogwood.
Depending on which post-secondary school you might
attend and what program you might enter into, different
math courses are needed. If you are going into most trades
programs, A & W Math is appropriate, with some
exceptions here as well.
For now, stay in the highest level of math you can be
successful at.
This time next year, you will need to pick a pathway of math
to continue on in.
If you are in Apprenticeship and Workplace Math, you will
have to go into the Apprenticeship and Workplace class.
What about a
Language?
You do not need a
Language to graduate from
high School
BUT…
Some post secondaries do for direct entry
from high school.
