ECDC mandate in training
Founding regulation (EC) No 851/2004:
"Article 9.6. The Centre shall, as appropriate, support and
coordinate training programmes in order to assist Member
States and the Commission to have sufficient numbers of
trained specialists, in particular in epidemiological surveillance
and field investigations, and to have a capability to define health
measures to control disease outbreaks."

1. Reduce existing inequalities in the capacity of
EU Member States to detect and respond to
CD health threats and differences in approach.
2. Maintain an appropriate balance between the
development of a EU capacity while strengthening
Member States.
3. Reach all targets of public health professionals that
are involved in CD prevention and control.
