All STAAR-Focused curriculum and instructional

Advantages:
• All available components will help teachers focus on the R & S
Standards
• New YAGs will have all tested TEKS (R & S Standards) bundled
into units BEFORE the STAAR/EOC assessments occur
• New IFDs will align to the new YAGs, with emphasis on the
newly bundled TEKS
• New IFDs will emphasize R & S Standards in the Performance
Indicators
• ELAR, SLAR, and Science has EVERYTHING available, even
assessments & lessons
• New components will help social studies teachers learn their
new TEKS
Disadvantages:
•
Math and Social Studies: No lessons or assessments aligned to the
newly bundled IFDs available
Solution:
• Math and Social Studies: Train all teachers in one or all of the
following modules:
*Planning Instruction from the IFD
*Assessment
*Instruction
• Math: Assist teachers in pulling appropriate activities and strategies
from the 2010-2011 lessons that will still be available

• None of the components will identify R & S Standards, so teachers will not be encouraged to focus
on R & S Standards for STAAR
• YAGs, TEKS Verification, and Lessons may have R & S Standards still in the 6th six weeks units, which
means they might be taught AFTER the STAAR/EOC assessments have already occurred
• IFDs will not emphasize the R & S in their bundling of TEKS or the Performance Indicators
• Assessments will not focus on the R & S Standards
• Science has no lessons or assessments
Social Studies/History:
• Using the 10-11 components will be using OUT OF DATE TEKS!
