Introduction: What is NECAP?
 The New England Common Assessment Program is the result of
a collaboration among New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont
and Maine to build a set of assessments for grades 3-8 and 11 in
order to meet the requirements of No Child Left Behind.
• NECAP assesses reading and math in grades 3-8 and 11, writing
in grades 5, 8, and 11, and science in grades 4, 8 & 11.

What does NECAP measure?
NECAP test items are aligned to the Vermont Grade Expectations and
are designed to measure student performance in the following
‘strands.’
