International voorspel ’n paar toekomsneigings:
Bejaarde- & Kinder-versorging
Die behoefte hieraan sal toeneem omdat mense ouer word en ook omdat al
hoe meer ouerpare albei moet werk. Daar gaan ook meer vigswesies wees
wat versorg moet word. (En weens die vigskrisis sal ’n behoefte aan
vigswerkers en -opleiers toeneem.)
Werke gebore uit katastrofes
Anton voorspel meer natuurrampe. Aardverhitting kan byvoorbeeld tot
vloedskade lei. Meer dokters, fisioterapeute en traumaberaders
(maatskaplike werkers en sielkundiges) sal nodig wees. Om die skade van
natuurrampe te herstel sal argitekte, bouers en projekbestuurders gesog
wees.
Elektrisiteits- & waterkrisisse sal die behoefte aan ingenieurs en
navorsers op dié gebiede verhoog. Projekbestuurders en kernfisici sal ook
nodig wees.
Bosbou
Bome sal moet help met hernubare brandstof en om aardverhitting te help
bekamp. Die groenbeweging sal groter raak en mense sal meer
omgewingsbewus gemaak moet word.
Biotegnologie
Omdat die wêreldbevolking steeds groei, sal beroepe rondom biotegnologie
vir die vervaardiging van kos, medisyne en brandstof noodsaaklik word, sê
prof. Kobus Maree van die fakulteit opvoedkunde aan die Universiteit van
Pretoria.
Biochemie (chemiese prosesse in mense, diere en plante) sal meer
aandag geniet – veral genetika (die ontleding van DNS) om só agter te kom
wat siektes veroorsaak. Genetiese manipulasie van bv. groente sal
belangriker word om só meer mense te kan kos gee.
Kweek van liggaamsorgane
Navorsing oor die moontlikheid hiervan sal uitbrei.
Nanotegnologie, die studie van molekules en atome. “Dit gaan alles
oor die sagteware van die lewe,” sê Anton
Entrepreneurs
“Ons skoolstelsel lei steeds mense op om vir iemand anders te gaan
werk,” sê dr. Piet Muller, futuris van Pretoria. “Jong mense sal moet
leer om hul eie werk te skep.” So skep die kragkrisis bv. nuwe
geleenthede vir entrepreneurs, sê prof. Maree.
Steenkool is die “nuwe goud”. Kyk uit vir geleenthede by
ondernemings wat steenkool ontgin en bemark. Die toekoms het ’n
enorme behoefte aan selfgedrewe mense. Jong mense wat nou die
arbeidsmark betree, kan van vyf tot sewe beroepe in hul lewe hê!
