conjunction with information from our Technology Planning conversations held last
spring between local school administrators, technology coordinators, and me. We will
have follow-up conversations at your request. For district level directors, it is my believe
that we have on-going planning conversations, but I am available for additional focused
planning conversations if you would like. Once we have collected and combined all

The spreadsheet is located by a link within the ASSIST platform. You save,
then send to schools (or however you want to do it), and then it is set up
to automatically tally. You will then upload it when it is complete within
the ASSIST platform. It is located in the District Technology Diagnostics
section under Inventory/Infrastructure—there are two questions to
respond to there—it is under the second "Respond" link.
1.
2.
Select the Diagnostics & Surveys tab
Choose a template - Select Technology Diagnostic and give it a
description
3. Click Start
4. Click Inventory/Infrastructure
5. Click the second Respond and then select click here and then you will
be able to download the spreadsheet
*Michael Robinson (Sylacauga) reported a duplicate entry on the
template. Shannon responded to him that the duplicate entry has been
deleted and a new template uploaded.
The Technology Initiatives section will continue the approval
of the Technology Plans for the districts. I have provided the
staff in charge of the Transform 2020 (Technology Plan) with
the E-rate requirements and the information required on the
approval letters.
As always you (the district) must include the required E-rate
elements of the Technology Plan within your Technology
Plans (Transform 2020) in order to be compliant with any P2
funding requests. The minimum requirements are as follows:
Technology plans must at a minimum contain the following elements:
Clear goals and a realistic strategy for using telecommunications and
information technology to improve education or library services;
A professional development strategy to ensure that members of the staff
know how to use these new technologies to improve education or library
services; aneeds assessment of the telecommunication services, hardware,
software, and other services that will be needed to improve education or
library services; and an evaluation process that enables the school or
library to monitor progress toward the specified goals and make mid-course
corrections in response to new developments and opportunities as they
arise.
Prior to FY2011, tech plans must also include a sufficient budget to acquire
and support the non-discounted elements of the plan (e.g., hardware,
software, professional development, and other services).
