First meeting
 Neytiri and Jake first meet in the forest, when Jake is
being attacked. Neytiri thinks' he is “Like a Baby” as he
has no respect for the life on Pandora. To Neytiri, Jake is
immature and a outsider because he is one of the sky
people, however she believes that he has “A strong heart
and no fear but stupid, ignorant like a child.” In their
first meeting low angle shot’s are used on Neytiri because
she has more knowledge about the environment and the
life on Pandora.
Teaching
 After it is decided that Jake will learn the Omaticaya ways
from Neytiri, they use eye level shots to show the growing
quality in their relationship. They are now on the same level as
Jake is also learning about the Environment. Jake’s new
understanding of the flow of energy and the Omaticaya ways
enable their relationship to grow and build, allowing them to
become more playful with each other and enables them to
become friends.
 Dialogue throughout Neytiri and Jakes relationship expresses
the change of Jake’s ignorance and the growing respect
Neytiri has for him. “I’m trying to understand this deep
connection the people have with the forest.
Initiation into the Omaticaya
 Jake refuses Quartich’s offer to rotate back home and get his legs
back because the Omaticaya people and Neytiri have become
important to him. When Jake is initiated as one of the people,
Neytiri respects Jake completely and the two are equal. Lighting
during the scene when they are at the Tree of Voice’s is high key and
filled with pinks and purples, setting a romantic mood. Close up’s are
used to show their emotions towards each other and show the
change in their relationship. Their relationship has grown and
developed romantically to the stage where they become mated for
life, the Na’vi version of a human marriage.
Betrayal
 After their “Romantic Interaction” at the Tree of Voice’s, the
truth comes out about Jake’s mission. This creates conflict in
Jake and Neytiri's relationship and Netyiri feels betrayed
saying “You will never be one of the people.” Jake pleas for
forgiveness and understanding explaining that “at first it was
just orders then everything changed, I fell in love… with the
forest.. With the people. With you.” Jake is casted out by the
people and by Netyiri.
 To regain the trust of the people and the love of Netyiri, he
must become Toruk Makto. Jake gives a speech where he
relates himself to the Omaticaya saying “My brother’s, my
sister’s.” By becoming Toruk Makto and providing the
Omaticaya people with a leader, Jake and Neytiri reunite and
prepare for the impending battle with the “Sky People”.
During the preparation and the gathering of other Clans we
see everyone unite together. Jake, Netyiri and the Na’vi
people are now working together as one.
The Final Battle

During the Final battle in Avatar, Quartich and Jake engage in one
on one combat, In this scene Jake’s link with his Avatar is
interrupted. Neytiri Kills Quartich by shooting him with two of her
arrows. Neytiri then saves Jake in his human form by putting an
oxygen mask over his face. During this scene close up shots are used
to show the love they feel for each other.

Dialogue is also used, when they say to each other “I see you”. This is
significant for their relationship as they are now saying they can see
into each other and they are expressing how important they are to
each other.

In the last scene of Avatar, Jake risks death in order to stay with
Neytiri and with the Omaticaya people forever. The main theme
shown in Jake and Neytiri’s relationship is that love can overcome any
obstacles including Race.
