SOPHOMORE LEADERSHIP SEMINAR College of Liberal Arts and Sciences What is the seminar? Two hour per week program designed to instruct our sophomore Liberal Arts and Sciences students on the critical thinking and leadership skills needed to excel in a rapidly changing world Will combine experiential and class based learning to develop leadership skill sets Pilot program Origins of the Leadership Seminar Desire to implement cross discipline leadership education for sophomore students Opportunity to provide sophomores with more connection to the College of Liberal Arts and Science Opportunity to develop mentoring opportunities with upper division ambassadors Leadership Curriculum Developed and tested with the CLAS Ambassadors Theoretical instruction combined with experiential opportunities that allow theory to be put into practice Mentoring based with teams matched up with upper division CLAS leaders First Semester Modules Theoretical Leadership Personal Values Leadership Skills and Team Building Goal Setting Second Semester Modules Vision Building Establishing Credibility and Commitment Vision Implementation Reflections on Success and Failure Expectations Seminar students must be Liberal Arts and Sciences Sophomores Seminar students must maintain a 3.0 UF GPA Attendance at the Thursday 3-4th period seminar is mandatory Some outside commitments (limited though) Application Timeline First class of 25 Paper Applications due April 19th at 5pm to 100 Farrior Hall advising.ufl.edu/information/leadership.html Final selection by the end of the semester Questions?
