HOW ARE GIFTED STUDENTS IDENTIFIED?
Georgia Board Rule 160-4-2-.38
 One who demonstrates a high degree of intellectual and/or creative ability(ies),
exhibits an exceptionally high degree of motivation, and/or excels in specific academic
fields, and who needs special instruction and/or special ancillary services to achieve at
levels commensurate with his or her abilities).

 3 out of 4 qualifying scores yields eligibility

ANALYSIS
Test scores are returned to individual
schools by the Office of Gifted and
Talented.
Eligibility team meets to complete
eligibility reports for students tested.
Gifted teacher enters test data into the
State Reporting Fields and Gifted and
Talented Tab for all eligible and ineligible
students.
ELIGIBILITY
Eligibility team sends eligibility report to parents
notifying them of their child’s status.
The Gifted teacher holds a placement meeting with
parents of eligible students to explain the eligibility
report and gifted services in APS.
The Gifted teacher files copies of the signed eligibility
report in the gifted confidential file and PR Folder.
The Gifted teacher files eligibility reports of students
who did not qualify in the Gifted Confidential Binder.
