• Peking Opera arose in the late 18th century
and became fully known and recognize by the
mid 19th century. It had also speeded to other
counties such as; The United States and Japan.

was name after Mei Lanfang.
Four Main Characters
Sheng- a common name of male characters
● Lao Sheng refers to a middle-age man
●Xiao Sheng means young man without a bread
Dan- a common name of female characters
●Gui men Dan means young, married girl
●Dao Ma Dan means strong women, female general

• Costumes are an integral part of the Peking
Opera In the early days opera costumes were
mainly made of wool or coarse cloths; later
satin, crepe and silk were used decorated with
various meticulously embroidered patterns.
