How we addressed feedback
Each grade level team reviewed all pieces of feedback and
made changes accordingly. This feedback throughout the year is
critical to the improvement of our resources and assessments.
Please be as specific as possible. We truly value your
professional opinion!

How we addressed feedback
Kindergarten-moved reading foundations standards into Q1 on the year at a
glance document as requested in feedback. There was no feedback for the
assessment piece.
First Grade: There was no feedback on the Curriculum Guide; however, we
added a section entitled “mClass TRC Question Stems and Vocabulary.”
Second Grade - We reworded some questions and made some changes to
images. There was no feedback on the Curriculum Guide but we did make
some improvements.
How we addressed feedback
3rd Grade: Some skills were reordered so they are more user friendly. We
allowed more time for more challenging skills. Some of the I can and I will
statements were edited and are more student friendly.
4th Grade: We made necessary changes to some of the typos within the
baselines and benchmarks. As a team, we looked at specific questions and
made the necessary changes in which we saw fit. No feedback was given on
the Curriculum Guide.
5th Grade: We replaced the 2 passages that were referenced as needing to
be changed and made sure to balance the new questions appropriately.

Curriculum Guide Updates
Kindergarten:There are numerous Daily 5 resources as
well as a selection of apps that you can put on your iPad,
and a new sight word list, and a Daily 5 Blendspace
First Grade: We added an additional section mClass
TRC Question Stems and Vocabulary
Second Grade: Incorporated Text Features throughout
the year and identified specific features to teach. We also
added apps for use on iPads.

Third Grade:
On the Year at a Glance each quarter is identified with the specific units. We moved
comparing and contrasting skills to Unit 8. Point of view skills have been moved from
one specific unit to units 2, 3, 4, and 7. Fictional and informational texts are
separated in unit 1 and unit 2. Fictional text is now being taught in quarter 1.
Informational text is now being taught in quarter 2. We combined Unit 8 and Unit 9 at
the end of the year so that students would be able to make connections to previous
learned skills using novels and same author studies. Skills and units spiral and build,
so you will find skills that are taught all year or reviewed at later dates noted with an
asterisk.

4th Grade:
Changed the length of some of the units (mythology and social issues).
Moved two of the standards to an earlier time in the year. (RI.3 & RI.8).
5th Grade:
Revised the Year At A Glance document to encourage understanding of year long
essentials.
Resource section has links to tier interventions.

Assessment Updates
● Kindergarten: There are 4 Open Ended Items,
Changes were made to the Baseline Assessment.
Letter I.D., sounds, and recording sheets were
updated. A direction sheet was created and added to
the Baseline Assessment
● First Grade: No major changes to assessments

Second Grade: We also made some changes to the
directions, including a short break during the assessment.
We created 4 open ended questions: 1 general question to
be used with any non-fiction text, 1 general question to be
used with any fiction text, and 2 text specific questions with
texts provided.
Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade: No major changes
Math
How we addressed feedback

Kinder - The major comments given were about open-ended items, which are now optional for
this coming year. If a site chooses to use them, they can adapt the rubrics as they see fit for their
purposes. The open-ended items provided begin with basic addition word problem and increase
in rigor to a decomposing word problem.

1st grade - reviewed all comments and responded with the corrections or reasons why things
were not changed. Most comments were about the open-ended items.

2nd grade We discussed the items and added comments in each cell to explain the group
consensus. There was no baseline feedback offered. This feedback is critical to the
improvement of our 2nd grade work. Please be as specific as possible. Some input was too
vague (no question numbers) to address.

3rd grade -We reviewed the feedback and made changes to the learning targets, baseline, and
both benchmarks based on feedback. We also moved learning targets on CG based on
feedback provided. We kept the directions the same so that they would correlate with EOG
directions.
4th grade reviewed the feedback for assessments as well as the data analysis of each item and
made adjustments as needed. We moved a couple learning targets to 3rd quarter to help allow
for more time on 1st semester targets. Updated Baseline and made sure all were 3rd grade
objectives. Open ended questions are optional. We created a bank of questions. One from
each cluster.
5th grade reviewed the feedback for assessments as well as the data analysis of each item and
made adjustments as needed.
Curriculum Guide Updates
The K-5 team would like to encourage all teachers to look at and use the digital
versions of the curriculum guides. Online resources were added throughout the
guides, standards on the Year at a Glance were hyperlinked to pages within the
guides, and additional resources were added at the end of the CGs that you will
miss if you just print and put in a binder.

Kinder - No standards were changed. Other than the online resources and hyperlinks the new
piece added were directions for how to create a Youtube playlist and some example videos for
some standards at the very end of the CG.

1st grade - moved OA.5 and OA.6 to 1st quarter; took a closer look at OA.4 and OA.8 and
changed the wording of the Year at a Glance to more clearly explain these learning targets.

2nd grade reviewed the vocabulary and added new resources to the unpacking of our
standards. Strategies from Math Foundations and Singapore Math were added to benefit
teachers who have not yet had those trainings. We also split 2.MD.7 into two chunks. The AM
and PM learning as well as vocabulary of telling time (quarter ‘til, quarter past, etc) were moved
to Q2.

3rd grade- we moved MD.6 to fourth quarter (to be paired with perimeter, and similar skills), we
also moved OA.1 to end of first quarter to give a natural progression to the second quarter skills,
we also condensed and streamlined the “I can” and “ I will” statements. We created a
maintenance and essential vocabulary list.

4th grade We felt that even though there were a lot of topics to cover in first quarter, many of
the objectives were follow-up concepts from third grade and should hopefully be taught as a
review. 4th grade did decide to move 4.NF.6 and 4.NF.7 (decimals) to third quarter.

5th grade included new unpacking items from DPI, added objective numbers beside I can and I
will statements, added I can and I will statements for each quarter behind the year at a glance, a
slight adjustment was made to the order in the 4th quarter on year at a glance, and many new
resources have been added to the curriculum guide. New google document has been added
with links for each objective, a list of links for increasing conceptual understanding & math
games, as well as a list of links for math interventions. (This document has been designed so
that all 5th grade teachers can add links throughout the year)
Assessment Updates
K-5 There will not be Open-Ended Response tasks required as a part of
Benchmark Assessments. Each team created a minimum of 4 OE items to be
used as needed. They will be posted on the district webpage.

Kinder- baseline is based on needed entry skills; BA 1 still 7 assessments; BA 2 and 3 still all 21
assessments. Some of the scoring rubrics were adjusted based on feedback.

1st grade The biggest change for this year - on all Benchmarks, students will be allowed to use
whatever tools/manipulatives they would use during typical instruction such as Base Ten blocks,
hundreds charts, counters, number lines, etc. We revised the open-ended items from last year
and created two additional items. We also developed samples of each level for each task.
Assessment Updates

2nd grade made adjustments based on district feedback. Overall, there were only minor
changes needed to last year’s assessments. The necessary materials are posted on the
assessment cover. Optional materials may also be used as used in daily instruction. These are
also listed in the instructions. The option of 3 minute breaks were also added to the directions
per teacher discretion.

3rd grade -made adjustments to baseline based on district feedback and second grade CRW
team feedback. We also made adjustments to BA1 and BA2 to balance the levels of questions
and to meet the changes made on CG by moving appropriate standard questions to the
appropriate quarter. We created 4 open ended questions with rubric and exemplars. We made
appropriate adjustments to the answer key based on feedback, and changes made to BA’s. We
analyzed the item analysis and reworded some questions or answers based on the data.

4th grade - reviewed the feedback links, and made changes to problems we found were not
aligned with fourth grade objectives. We also removed any questions that did not align with the
standards that should be taught by the time benchmark assessments are given. Made changes
to questions based off district data analysis.

5th grade - added questions to benchmark one (which was much shorter than baseline or
benchmark 2), changed wording on some problems based on feedback, and adjusted number of
low, medium, high Bloom’s level questions. Also wrote 2 additional open-ended questions for
optional use.

-We appreciate all comments provided, and thoughtfully
read and responded to each piece of feedback!
-The team discussed every item and came to consensus
on how to address, revise, or replace documents and test
items.
-Consulted with other content areas to better integrate
curriculum and to clarify content

How we addressed feedback
We had one positive comment about Social
Studies Curriculum Guide. We would like to
encourage all teachers to continue to give us
feedback on the SS curriculum guides and
documents that we created this week.
Curriculum Guide Updates
● Curriculum guide has same style and format as last
year. No major changes.
● We added a Social Studies integration guide to the K-5
ELA Curriculum Guide.
● We reviewed the Essential Vocabulary list by grade
level.
● We also created a list of apps that you can use for
Social Studies.
Opportunities for Literacy Integration
Each grade level has a Social Studies
integration guide that can be found at
the end of the ELA Curriculum Guide and in the
middle of the Social Studies Curriculum Guide.
